Cirion to deploy new state-of-the-art, energy efficient data centre in Chile

Cirion, with backing from Stonepeak, a prominent alternative investment firm specialising in infrastructure and real assets, is set to commence a 20 MW cutting-edge carrier-neutral data centre facility in Chile known as SAN2. The facility will provide critical colocation capacity to service growing regional demand needs and will have direct fibre connectivity to Cirion’s existing ecosystem-dense facility in Santiago.

This expansion of Cirion’s existing data centre footprint in Latin America will cater to hyperscale cloud service providers, carriers, content providers, and enterprises in need of scalable infrastructure.

Strategically positioned near Cirion’s existing ecosystem-dense data centre in Santiago, the SAN2 facility will have direct fibre connectivity, enabling seamless data exchange. Moreover, it will benefit from a business-friendly environment, access to renewable energy, and four independent metro fibre route entrances. The data centre’s long-haul connectivity to major cities and tech hubs in the region, along with its proximity to international subsea cable networks, will ensure minimal latency between Latin America and other regions. This makes SAN2 an ideal hub for businesses operating in the region and beyond.

SAN2 will play a pivotal role in supporting Latin America’s sustainability objectives and align with Cirion’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy and commitment to technological innovation. With a market-leading Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), the facility will prioritise energy efficiency, water conservation, and responsible resource usage, minimising its overall environmental impact. These same standards were also adopted by Cirion for its recently announced 20 MW data centre facility in Lurín, Perú (LIM2).

“The development of this new data centre in Santiago represents another important step in our journey to grow our platform of low latency, interconnected data centres and establish a growing digital ecosystem across Latin America,” said Facundo Castro, CEO for Cirion Technologies. “This new facility in Santiago reflects Cirion´s continued commitment to investing and providing our customers with the most comprehensive suite of data centre solutions to support their digital transformation across the region.”
