The new addition, Winterthur data centre, represents the next step in NorthC Group’s growth strategy for the Benelux and DACH regions, after the company started its international expansion with the acquisition of two data centres in Germany, in 2021.
Kyndryl Switzerland, a division of the Kyndryl Group, one of the world’s leading IT infrastructure services providers, has recently entered into a Managed Service Agreement for colocation services at the Winterthur data centre. Notably, Kyndryl is the first customer to join NorthC in utilising this data centre. Moreover, NorthC will extend the availability of the data centre facilities in Winterthur to other organisations in the region.

This will be the 17th NorthC data centre, located in an important growth market, the Zurich region. We see the continuous need for digitisation within enterprises and public organisations, which drives the demand for data centre services. As in our other data centres in the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland, we will build an ecosystem of regional IT partners in the Zurich area, in order to support local businesses with their digital transformation. Of course, we will also bring our key NorthC values to this data centre, such as our focus on sustainability and strong, personal customer relations.”
The Winterthur data centre is an important data communications nexus for the region, with a broad range of key telecoms carriers present within the facility. The data centre currently has an IT capacity of 1.8MW, with further expansion possibilities to support growth demands.

NorthC will operate this data centre and connect this location to the three other NorthC data centres in Switzerland, located in Münchenstein (Basel area) and Biel (Bern area).
