Ubiquity to enhance delivery of sustainable last-mile digital solutions

Digital Solutions

Ubiquity, a prominent investor in digital infrastructure, has acquired EdgePresence, a trailblazer in the construction of customised edge data centres. EdgePresence specialises in delivering comprehensive, localised, and scalable network compute solutions tailored to the requirements of carriers and data hyperscalers. With this acquisition, Ubiquity strengthens its position in the industry and expands its portfolio of cutting-edge data centre solutions.

The modular Edge Data Centres (EDCs) offered by EdgePresence are purpose-built facilities that are intelligently designed to incorporate essential components such as critical power systems, monitoring capabilities, physical security measures, and efficient cooling solutions. These EDCs complement Ubiquity’s current digital infrastructure offerings and provide significant advantages for network tenants. By facilitating far-edge functions, the EDCs reduce latency and enhance performance, all within a highly secure environment. Additionally, the deployment of these facilities is incredibly efficient, with a rapid setup process that can be completed in a matter of weeks.

Ubiquity Edge provides initial facilities in desirable high-growth metropolitan areas such as San Diego, Los Angeles, Dallas, Austin, Orlando, Jacksonville, FL, and will be deploying additional sites nationally to meet customer demand. Current tenants include wireless and wired broadband providers as well as fibre transport providers.

“As data and compute demands grow, having localised assets adjacent to end users becomes critical to overall network performance and customer success,” said Jamie Earp, Ubiquity co-CEO and Managing Partner. “We are excited to add EdgePresence’s unique set of customer solutions to the Ubiquity platform. This expansion furthers our commitment to, and focus on, ownership of critical last-mile network infrastructure assets.”

Ubiquity specialises in developing, acquiring, and managing essential last-mile communications assets across the United States. With a diverse digital ecosystem and an Infrastructure-as-a-Service business model, Ubiquity enables the advancement of innovative communication solutions that foster smart, resource-efficient economic growth and development. Notably, Ubiquity’s approach eliminates the need for capital investment from customers, including municipalities, thus facilitating access to cutting-edge technologies.

While Ubiquity has primarily focused on its Smart City and Smart Building verticals, the addition of EdgePresence will serve as the cornerstone for the newly established Ubiquity Edge vertical.
