AJ Byers serves as Compass Datacenters’ President, International, and has over 20 years of experience in the data centre industry, most recently as the President and CEO of ROOT Data Centers, the fastest growing wholesale data centre provider in Canada. 

Prior to his tenure at ROOT, Byers served as the President of Rogers Data Centers where he led his team in the development of one of Canada’s largest data centre service companies with 15 centres nationally. 

Before Rogers, Byers held the position of executive VP of Primus. In this role, he guided its transition from a legacy telecom provider to a full solution technology services organisation. Prior to Primus, Byers was the COO of Magma Communications, where he was instrumental in building one of Canada’s first internet data centres.
