Globally, Data Centers are one of the biggest grid off-takers, requiring enormous amounts of power to maintain as close to 100 per cent uptime as possible. In this session, Carsten Baumann, Director of strategic initiatives and solution architect at Schneider Electric, discusses with DIN how existing technologies can enable facilities to provide grid stabilisation without compromising uptime, providing sustainability benefits to the surrounding community and data centers alike.

As the focus on environmental sustainability gathers momentum in the data centre sector, there are obvious opportunities for data centre owners and operators to generate significant additional revenues by supporting utility demand response programmes. Remarkably, when approached with the appropriate combination of power system assets, demand response results in a reduction in CO2emissions and millions of dollars in additional revenue. In this presentation Ed Ansett discusses the broad array of demand response schemes that are suitable for data centre participation, and quantifies the additional revenue potential for data centres.
